Enola Gay “Utah Jazz” & “Global Guts”
Rising from the ashes of the over sexed electro-funk trio Chelsea Boys, Enola Gay is a (at least so far) instrumental band comprising of 2/3 of their former band. The band started a series called G.A.Y Fridays last week where they are releasing a new demo each Friday leading up to their debut show on Feb 17th with Night Moves and We All Have Hooks for Hands at the Turf. The first song, “Global Guts” is a twitchy, euphoric dance track that follows closely to the party at all costs mantra of Chelsea Boys, sans the Junior High locker room lyrical content. The latest edition is the more atmospheric “Utah Jazz,” which features a deeper, more trance inducing sound that widens the spectrum of what we had previously heard from the band. While “Global Guts” continued the sound that made people love (or hate) that band, “Utah Jazz” shows the potential that the new group might forge a new identity. Only time will tell. Keep an eye on the groups Soundcloud page for more weekly jams.
