self-evident “Rumors”
Fresh off their first Japanese tour, self-evident are set to release their 6th full length in their 15th year as a band. While it’s been 3 years since the last one (2009’s Endings), the band has stayed busy playing locally, touring Japan and Europe and working on other projects (bassist Tom Berg most notably plays in Zebulon Pike as well). “Rumors” is the opening track from We Built a Fortress on Short Notice and is a pretty good intro to those who might still be unfamiliar with the band. Staccoto guitar punctuates a distorted bass groove and precise drumming. Musically and vocally recalling some of the dissonant math rock of the 90s, self-evident has made that sound into something of their own.
self-evident plays an album release show at the Triple Rock tonight (8/3) with Zebulon Pike and Hardcore Crayons.
