Beat Detectives: “I Don’t Mind”
I know almost nothing about newish electronic artists the Beat Detectives, other than that they seem to have taken their name from a Pro Tools module (or possibly the Irish wedding band of the same name) and they are tangentially related to much-loved electronic group Food Pyramid, at least according to my colleague Josh. While I hope to learn more concrete details soon, for the time being I have been enjoying the diverse array of dance-oriented sounds over at the group’s bandcamp page, particularly jam “I Don’t Mind” which reminds me both of acid house I listened to in the 90’s as well as (more subtly) Electro, particularly the legendary (and oft-sampled) freestyle tune “Don’t Stop The Rock,” probably because it utilizes a similar type of vocoder-aided vocal distortion. Check it out below and keep your eyes and ears peeled for Beat Detectives information/shows.
