Mixed Blood Majority “Free Up (feat. Cecil Otter)
We were excited by “Fine Print,” the first track from Mixed Blood Majority, a new group featuring Joe from No Bird Sing, Alexi (Crescent Moon) from Kill the Vultures and Lazerbeak from Doomtree, and the second song only builds on that momentum. A gritty new track, “Free Up,” circles around an ominous hook saying “some keys fit the lock, some keys didn’t, I’m gonna pick the lock, run free with’m” and finds Doomtree spitter Cecil Otter adding his witty drawl to the track. The songs on the LP, unsurprisingly based on the parts contributing, are heavy and serious without being laborious, dark without being suffocating and smart without being pretentious. The LP, which we are obviously excited for, drops 1/22 with the release show happening 1/26 at the Triple Rock. Look for a full review of the LP soon.
