Guante “The Fourth Wall (feat. Lydia Liza)” + “A Prayer for Indie Rappers”
Two new(ish) updates from local MC/Spoken Word artist Guante following up on his outstanding 2012 LP You Better Weaponize. The first is a breezy, meditative take on his track “The Fourth Wall,” a song that originally appeared on his El Guante’s Haunted Studio Apartment record back in the day. The new version, a KATRAH-QUEY remix, is a chilled out track featuring Lydia Liza of Bomba De Luz on the hook. It finds Guante looking more inward at the stresses of life than at the perils of the modern world, and the new arrangement fits the track wonderfully.
The other “new” thing isn’t really new either, but is a video of his excellent spoken word piece “A Prayer for Indie Rappers.” If you haven’t seen/heard him perform this piece before, do yourself a favor and check it out below. No word on anything official coming out from Guante in the near future, but keep you eye on his site for shows, performances and events he is taking part in, along with new material here and there. He is always up to something cool, so don’t miss out.
