Concert Coverage: Modern Radio 10th Anniversary at the Turf Club

FT (The Shadow Government)

I had just a few minutes to ask myself if is it great or just frustrating that there’s so many folks in this town who can churn out amazing pop music without falling into the trap of “pro-gear, pro-attitude” blandness when it was time to go upstairs for a rare live performance by Midwest diaspora noise-rock conspiracy theorist monsters (ft) The Shadow Government. Two drummers, guitar, bass, and a host of assorted sound-twisting effect/noise creators, ft(TSG), not satisfied with ripping the crowd’s face off, but most of our chests and backs as well.

Daughters Of The Sun

By now the party was full steam ahead, and any lingering specters of doubt were long gone, much like the cookies and the party bus. Ten years of history was no longer high expectations but hugs from old friends who all wanted in on the celebration, and all that was left was Daughters of the Sun to finish the night off with an intense blast of barefoot psychedelic, post-dream noise: the perfect soundtrack for doing battle with the end of the evening.
