Kick Out the Gems!
Twin Cities you are in for a treat. Iowa based beatmaker/bedazzler/exhibitionist Leslie Hall (Leslie and the Ly’s) is coming to the Triple Rock on February 18th . If you are unfamiliar with it, Iowa is the state that killed Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens. Leslie continues the state tradition of killing music (let’s not forget Slipknot) by crafting cheapo keyboard rhythms and rapping over them with a great deal of spirit. The thing is though, in killing music somehow she also brings it to life, and her shows are infinitely fun, weird, and joyous spectacles. The gold spandex clad singer inhabits her role of the trailer-living, gemstone-loving, wannabe pop diva expertly, and her fans are no less dedicated. If you head out, make sure that you wear your best bedazzled sweater because mid show there is sure to be a sweater competition.
