Harlem “Friendly Ghost”
71/100
The fine folks at Matador have provided us with the first preview of Austin based garage rockers Harlem’s upcoming sophomore album in the form of the fuzzy stomper “Friendly Ghost.” While the song doesn’t reach the heights of a lot of the material from their great debut record Free Drugs, it is indicative of the sound that the band is so good at creating. The music is loose, the lyrics are goofy and off beat and the edges are most definitely frayed. No pro tools overdubs here. Expect a lot more along those lines when their sophomore album Hippies drops April 6th on Matador.
