Buildings: Red Embassy
80/100
I don’t know much about Twin Cities’ band Buildings, except that they produce fast paced thrashy punk that is anchored with heavy classic rock sounding guitar riffs. While that kind of genre generally isn’t my number one musical choice – I am really digging the band’s single “Red Embassy,” a screamy bundle of raw nerves with a sledgehammer Black Sabbath style guitar chorus. It’s a tightly constructed song with some really slick rhythm shifts and what sounds like someone beating the living shit out of the cymbals. Also, this might be just me but the lead singer’s vocals consistently remind me of a much angrier James Murphy. Check out the tune here and you can catch Buildings at their next show at the Turf Club on March 12th.
