Wet Hair: The Garden of the Pharoahs
82/100
I am always happy to hear when some of my fellow Iowans are doing something right, so I was disappointed to not be able to see Iowa City’s Wet Hair when they visited the Twin Cities last weekend for a show at the Giltterboxxx. Here is a taste of what was missed – droning, psychedelic, organ riffs over monotone, almost incomprehensible lyrics. Surprisingly, it actually comes off as kind of sunny and playful. Wet Hair’s Shawn Reed is also of experimental noice quartet Raccoo-oo-oon, and runs the record label Night People (home of Pocahaunted). Let’s hope that they come back and visit again soon.
