The driving, hyper anthemic “American Slang” is the first song we have heard from The Gaslight Anthems upcoming follow up to the great ’59 Sound LP they released in 2008. While not the visceral gut punch of punk meets Springsteen greatness that was found on the first songs released from their last album, “Great Expectations” and “The ’59 Sound,” it still is a pretty solid song.
