Best Coast “Far Away”
I am getting a little worried that Bethany Cosentino, better known as sugary sweet garage rocker Best Coast, might have prematurely blown her load with the amazing “When I’m With You” track. Ever since I heard the song late last year, I have greeted each new track from her with anticipation, only to feel let down when the buzz from her first track is not replicated. Ditto for her latest 7″ “Far Away.” The track features all of the usual Best Coast trademarks (scuzzy guitars,Cosentino’s sweet girl group vocals and snapping drums), but doesn’t capture the raw emotion of the first time I heard her. Hopefully her upcoming full length will recapture that feeling, or maybe it is lighting in a bottle for me that I will have to accept that this is another great song from the band, even if it doesn’t live up to my hyper inflated expectations.
