Susanna and the Magical Orchestra: Palpatine’s Dream

Here’s a new track from experimental Norwegian group Susanna and the Magical Orchestra, who create minimalist electronic interpretations of popular songs (i.e. Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” etc), as well as some original compositions.  “Palpatine’s Dream” is one of the original ones, and yes, that is an extremely dorky Star Wars reference in the title.  “Dream” features slightly warped and otherworldly sounding vocals from Susanna Karolina Wallumrød, while the Magical Orchestra (former Jaga Jazzist member Morten Qvenild) fills in the canvas with drum machine beats and bizarre synths.  I am not quite sure if I like it yet but you can’t deny that it is at least intriguing.
