Mt. St Helens Vietnam Band “Leaving Trails”
I for some reason had not been more than a casual fan of Mt. St. Helens Vietnam Band before I saw them opening for Japandroids at the Turf Club last year, but that all changed with their relentless, exhilarating performance. The group is back with their sophomore album, Where the Messengers Meet, which is due out August 3rd. The first track released from the album is the dense but melodic “Leaving Trails,” which can seem knotty and abstruse on initial listens but really shows new layers as you unpack the song with further spins. I’m excited to hear the album and to see them come through the Twin Cities again, hopefully as a headlining act.
