Mother Of Fire: Tendrilled Mass

Here is an epic piece of ominous dread from local experimental band Mother of Fire, off of their upcoming self titled LP (sometime this summer on De Stijl).  “Tendrilled Mass” is an eight minute plus psychedelic plunge through a world of squalling guitars and abused violin strings.  Lead vocalist Naomi Joys’ deadpan singing recalls early Grace Slick (not to mention fellow locals BruteHeart) while her dramatic lyricism sounds like something out of the Geddy Lee songbook.  The combination is utterly bewitching, the perfect tune to compliment a nocturnal sojourn into the heart of darkness (or perhaps a dragon boat trip across Powderhorn Lake, as depicted by the band’s only press photo – see above).
