Dylan LeBlanc: If Time Was For Wasting

I first heard about Louisiana songwriter Dylan LeBlanc via word of mouth, from Alela Diane covering one of his tunes at last year’s 7th St. Entry show.  Not only was Diane, a formidible songwriter in her own right, completely taken with the young man, it seems that he makes a big impression on just about everyone that hears him.  Rough Trade must think so anyway – they recently signed him and will release his debut Paupers’ Field on August 22nd.  I eagerly anticipate hearing the full length, and for now here is a taste: “If Time Was For Wasting” evokes one of my favorite all time country artists, Townes Van Zandt, though in a younger, less weary way than the hard living legend.
