Thermals “I Don’t Believe You”
I have to admit that while liking a lot of their stuff, I have had moments where I will say that the Thermals have left me scratching my head. Their power-pop/punk can be infectious and at times incredibly powerful, but it also can teeter on the edge of being cheesy and downright annoying. The last we heard from them was the abysmal “Canada,” recorded during the last Olympics and in my opinion was the low point in the bands career. I understand it was meant in good spirit and was just fun, but it exposed to me how their formula can quickly turn hollow and trite. Luckily the first track from their upcoming release Personal Life, the spirited “I Don’t Believe You,” hits a little closer to home. While it isn’t the best thing the group has recorded, it still breaths life back into their sound and has me excited about their next album.

yeah, not a bad track… not amazing but certainly fun.
