Panda Bear “Slow Motion”
People unlike myself who do not like Panda Bear should buckle up for a few months of unrelenting hype. Starting shortly, the Animal Collective members equally ambitious solo material will be slowly presented to the public via 7″ records on labels such as Animal Collectives own Paw Tracks, Fat Cat, Domino, and Kompakt. The first out is the wildly ambitious “Tomboy,” which also happens to be the name of the record that the singles will eventually all show up on. While you can’t hear the A Side yet (unless you, ahem, spend about 30 seconds searching for it), NPR is streaming the B-Side “Slow Motion” for folks looking to keep their music listening on the straight and narrow. The track is a little more the speed of the groundbreaking work of his last LP, Person Pitch, and should have fans of his music excited. While the new sounds explored on “Tomboy” are exciting, it sometimes is good when the first song you hear from an artist in three years is just showing you that they still have it. We, along with every other two-bit music blog in the world, will keep you up to date on future songs from Panda Bear.
