Guards “Sail it Slow” (feat. Cults)
Are Cults big enough yet to bring new bands into music fans consensus just by being on their track? Ariel Pink helped out local act Velvet Davenport by singing on one of his songs and it has seemed to help so far, and now new group Guards are hoping that they can use Cults popularity to get their bands dark pop sounds into the ears of more people. The track that features both bands, the hazy pop track “Sail it Slow,” comes off of the new, self titled Guards EP. The track isn’t as bright as the few songs Cults have released, but I would venture to say it shares the groups strong pop sensibilities and knack for writing engaging tracks that are neither too poppy nor too avant garde. While Cults have not full on blown up yet, I would say that Guards would be more than happy to get the kind of blog buzz that Cults have. I can’t see why they shouldn’t. The whole EP is worth checking out and can be streamed and downloaded for free at their Bandcamp page.
