Lia Ices: Grown Unknown
While Brooklyn songwriter Lia Ices calls herself “experimental,” the musical accompaniment to her first single “Grown Unknown” is remarkably common – just some acoustic guitar and a little handclapping percussion. It’s Ices’ voice though where she really attempts to stand out from your standard indie-folk performers, drowning her vocals in reverb and taking them through a few irregular pitch changes. Still, though “Grown” shows promise, it doesn’t exactly go very far towards breaking any boundaries. It’s a relatively safe pop sound, done skillfully.
