Tim Fite: We Didn’t Warn You
I had my first experience seeing eccentric songwriter Tim Fite this weekend – I photographed his Friday show at the Cedar with Azure Ray for Vita.mn. While the ladies of Azure Ray didn’t make a huge impression, Fite came off like some kind of comedic genius/odball virtuoso. Fite crafts bizarre tunes that range from folk to hip hop – but the real pleasure of his show is watching the bug-eyed, overall wearing goof perform them onstage, often alongside his partner in crime, Sexy Leeroy. When he’s not stealing audience member’s articles of clothing, Fite performs incredibly funny tunes, usually accompanied by videos of himself singing along. It is kind of hard to convey the same aesthetic via a studio-recorded song, but since Fite has now left town its the best I can do.
