Anna Calvi: Jezebel
I love this cover of traditional tune”Jezebel” from London vocalist Anna Calvi. Calvi gives the tune a forceful, very nearly Flamenco vibe to the song, singing with a fierceness borrowed from those steely old Andalucian vocalists. The Spaghetti Western list of the instrumentation is unmistakable as well, giving the tune a new, yet still in many ways throwback, incarnation. The single is available now via Domino.
