First Aid Kit: “When I Grow Up” (Fever Ray Cover)
Here’s a gem from 2010 that I missed the first time around. First Aid Kit are the Swedish duo of sisters Johanna and Klara Soderberg, and they play rootsy, homespun folk music of the same variety as Alela Diane, Mountain Man, etc. Their debut record The Big Black & The Blue was released on January 25th, of last year, and while I still need to check it out, for now I am completely enamored with this cover of Fever Ray’s “When I Grow Up,” which were I able to turn back time might have edged on to my favorite songs of last year. This track comes as the B-side to the band’s Ghost Town single.
