Beirut: “O Leãozinho” (Caetano Veloso cover)
The amazing Red Hot Organization, which raises money and awareness for HIV/AIDS research, is back again with another great album. Last year indie rockers helped the organization pull together the great Dark Was the Night, and on June 28th the organization will release the follow up to the 1996 album Red Hot + Rio, appropriately titled Red Hot + Rio 2. The new album will feature not only Tropicalia legends like Os Mutantes, Tom Ze and Caetano Veloso, but younger artists covering these wildly influential artists, including Beirut, Neon Indian, Dirty Projectors, of Montreal, St. Vincent, Beck, Devendra Banhart, Madlib and José González. The record is out June 28th, and you can listen to the Beirut contribution below. I know music and albums are easy to come by these days, but this is a really great organization and a very worthy cause, so if you are interested in this album (and you should be), support this organization.
