Javelin: “Cowpoke”
There isn’t much to Brooklyn duo Javelin’s new two minute single (the first from their forthcoming sophomore LP, Canyon Candy) but I am still digging what’s there. “Cowpoke” is a Western-themed track that loops a “singing cowboy” style high-pitched warble with a slight beat and acouctic guitar. The whole thing is scratchy and old-sounding, like some dusted off Gene Autry single that’s been given a drum machine treatment. Its pretty unorthodox for dance music – but Javelin is far froma typical dance band.
