The Antlers “Parentheses” & “Every Night My Teeth Are Falling Out”
The Antlers, who hit the scene with force when their Hospice LP dropped a few years back, have returned with their latest LP Burst Apart. Upon first listen to the two songs released in anticipation of the record, “Parentheses” and “Every Night My Teeth Are Falling Out,” it is safe to say that the group has ratchetedup the tempo a bit but are still perusing in dark territory. Both tracks leave the listener with an apprehensive feeling, much like the depressing material on Hospice, but also feature a more full sound, the result of this being a full band effort versus the apartment recording of the last LP. While the restrained sound of Hospice meshed well with main man Peter Silberman’s material, the new songs are growing on me and seem at least to prove that the follow up to Hospice won’t be a let down.
