Planningtorock “The Breaks”
I am, like most music nerds, a record label snob. That means that when I see something is being released by DFA, I give it a listen, even if the band has a stupid name like Planningtorock. The reason? Labels run by people like the dudes who run DFA generally put their name behind decent stuff. Planningtorock, at least based off their song “The Breaks,” mix weirdo freak pop with dramatic soundscapes, creating a world of dense tension that somehow sounds as if Hercules and the Love Affair took too many downers and remixed Fever Ray. The whole album is hitting the interwebs and digital download world today and will be released as a physical product early next month.
