Gold Leaves: "The Ornament"
I was a fan of Grant Olsen’s folk project Arthur and Yu (which also featured Sonja Westcott) so I was very happy to hear that he recently started a new solo project called Gold Leaves. Olsen’s first LP under the new moniker, The Ornament is due out this August (Hardly Art) and has been described as containing equal amounts of “subtle R&B touches and 60’s Brit-pop production.” You can check out the titular single “The Ornament” below, which features back up vocals from Thao Nguyen, Amy Blaschke, as well as the Moondoggies. If this tune is indicative, Olsen hasn’t completely let go of his folk roots just yet.
