Dva Damas: Brand New Head
Dva Damas are a new band out of sunny South California that sound pretty much the opposite of sunny or Californian (at least in the stereotypical sense). They combine dark, gritty minimalist garage rock with elements of punk, noise, and a bit of rockabilly twang. The band recently released a 10″ on Downwards that kicks off with “Brand New Head,” (which you can listen to below). The single is full of ghostly sneering vocals, menacing guitar, and a bizarre clopping beat that sounds a bit like horse hoof rythm from an old gene Autry tune.
