Headless Heroes: “Nobody’s Baby Now (Nick Cave Cover)”
Somehow I missed this when it came out in 2009 (which is odd since I am a big Alela Diane fan) but a friend recently hipped me to the fact that Diane was part of a covers band that called themselves Headless Heroes.In addition to Diane HH consisted of a diverse cast of musicians that included Josh Klinghoffer, Joey Waronker, Woody Jackson, Leo Abrahams, and Gus Seyffert. The group’s covers album must not have made much of a splash when it was released in 2009, but I plan on checking out in depth if only for Alela Diane’s pristine vocals. Those vocals are on display here in a cover of Nick Cave’s “Nobody’s Baby Now,” which thus far is my favorite offering I have heard.
