Video: Youngy Ransom “Throwing Up”
Do you want to watch a bunch of high schoolers vomiting booze and ecstasy all over each other? If so, check out Youngy Ransom’s debut video for “Throwing Up” below. [I’m pretty sure that’s a Fiona Apple song is playing as Youngy Ransom enter the garage? Does anyone know which one? Also, Fiona Apple? Really?]
Youngy Ransom is a duo from St. Paul. PG da Cypress, the emcee, betrays his age when rapping, but has a fun flow—especially in the first verse. Andrew Hanson’s production is over the top and verging on cutesy, a la RJD2. The writer of Minneapolis music blog Wild Tundra nailed it when they described Youngy Ransom as a hybrid of Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator, and Wiz Khalifa. And, like Odd Future, it’s hard to judge how serious the duo is—but according to their Facebook page they’re “Two dope youngins tryna get big big and sell out in Hip Hop.”
Youngy Ransom released Jet Lag the Mixtape earlier this month. You can listen below and download it here.
