Amen Dunes: “Lower Mind”
With Balam Acab, Amen Dunes, and AraabMuzik all making headlines this year, it might seem that the next big theme in band names is occult orientalism – all these groups sound like some sort of turn of the century secret society. And at least juding by the hazy psychedelia of Amen Dunes – the influence may be in more than just the name. Amen Dunes is Damon McMahon, and he creates heavy, lo-fi, psychedelic folk/drone compositions. And what I have heard so far I have liked. McMahon recently realeased a new LP titled Through Donkey Jaw via Sacred Bones. I am looking forward to listening in depth soon.
