Pigeons: "Dead Echo"

Here’s something to get excited about.  Local label Soft Abuse just announced that Bronx experimental duo Pigeons will release a new record called They Sweetheartstammers on November 8th.  For those of you not familiar with Pigeons, they make Francophile-leaning experimental pop led by the eerie vocals and wandering guitar work of Wednesday Knudsen. With the new album, the duo have promised a relatively new direction by employing “heavy doses of melody & dissonance,” which their label has compared to the likes of Broadcast, Meddle-era Pink Floyd, and Opal.  Listen to the first single “Dead Echo” and the change is fairly obvious – the tone is darker, the mood more ominous, and the band seems headed in an even more eclectic direction than their last  LP.
