Woodsman “In Circles”
After dropping an album that is still teetering in my top 10 records of 2011 (Rare Forms), Woodsman are already back with a brand new EP titled Mystic Places, out soon on their own Firetalk Records. A quick listen finds not much new on the first track from Mystic Places, the wobbly synthscape “In Circles,” which is a good thing considering their pervious material. I have always thought the band make “organic” sounding tracks using mostly electronic instruments, eschewing the cold, distant sound actively cultivated by many of their peers. Grab the new 12″ from the Firetalk website and look for Woodsman soon here in the Twin Cities as they have made a habit of swinging through (they are from Colorado) and playing short notice house shows.
