Stream: Fela Soul Mixtape
I saw a few nights back that someone had taken the music of afrobeat legend Fela Kuti and melded it with the timeless rhymes of De La Soul on a project titled Fela Soul, which piqued my interest to say the least. Like the previously posted Ghostfunk project, I wanted to check it out before posting as these mashup projects can range from amazing to awful, but like Ghostfunk, after one run through the Fela Soul it is clear this project is pretty great. Whether you are familiar with the wildly influential work of one, both or neither of these groups, this is simply a well made, fun to listen to album. If you have back knowledge of how important these groups are and can relate who cool this is on a large number of levels, it suddenly becomes even cooler. Stream the whole record below.
