For nearly fifteen years, Will Brooks has been harshing the buzz of hip-hopsters and metalheads alike as the MC of dälek, a New Jersey duo that shovels bottomed-out beats beneath My Bloody Valentine-esque walls of sound. Brooks is on the verge of releasing a solo album. For the Ones is due out September 26th on deadverse. Although For the Ones is strictly a hip hop affair, you can still hear the shattered-frequency-noise-wash production style he’s used to rapping over. The lead single is “Long Haul.” Although it’s quite simple, I really like the chorus:
Subsonic rage, no rational thought / involve
Invade the subconscious / problem solved
It all stems from guesses of yours
Is they still here? / We here for long haul
