Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble: “Pretend”

The Brandt Brauer Frick Ensemble is a German trio consisting of Daniel Brandt, Jan Brauer and Paul Frick.  They create experimental orchestrations that are epic in scope utilizing “handmade” stitching of violin, cello, harp, piano, trombone, tuba, timpani, marimba, vibraphone, drumset, various percussion as well as a Moog synthesizer.  The group’s debut Mr. Machine will be out on October 24th, coincidentally the day before they play a Twin Cities show at the Cedar Cultural Center.  Check out the slow building blend of percussion, vocals, and stringed instruments that is “Pretend” (also featuring a vocalist called “Emika”) and then decide if you want to add the 10/24 concert to your calendar. I think it should be interesting.
