If you are like me, the words “acoustic rap project” can strike fear in your heart, but I should have never doubted the capable and talented hands of local rapper Guante. His latest project is the group A Loud Heart, which features Guante’s rhymes and Claire Taubenhaus providing the acoustic guitar work and singing. Fears of coffee shop mediocrity quickly dissipate when you hear Guante’s sharp as always rhymes and Taubenhaus’s soulful, almost Lauren Hill like hooks and simple but sufficient guitar work. Listen to another song over at the duo’s Bandcamp page and check out their release show (and pick up the brand new EP) tonight at Honey in Northeast. The show is early (7-10) and features Black Blondie and an acoustic set from Kristoff Krane.
