Deep Earth/Food Pyramid Split 7″
Moon Glyph has done some amazing stuff over the last few years, but I think bringing together Chicago synth warriors Deep Earth and their Minneapolis soul mates Food Pyramid may be their best move yet. The split 7″, featuring the track “Kontraband” from Deep Earth and “Kollider” from Food Pyramid, finds the groups going deep into the pysch realm and creating two of the best songs either band has created. Deep Earth’s half, found below, is five minute of funky cosmic soul that finds the band diving deep into the groove and peppering the track with slinky bass and haunted horns. The Food Pyramid side is a more charging, spaced out take that incorporates the Chicago house beat with their usual colorful synth collages. The two bands did a tour last year, and after hearing this amazing split, I really hope they make that happen again. Buy this great record over at the Moon Glyph website.
