Introducing: Solid Attitude
Some wild dudes from Iowa City, who go by the name of Solid Attitude, are playing a Minneapolis house show tomorrow (details below), and if you’re looking for a raw garage punk fix, they’ve got the drugs.
Singer Mickey Shaw belts out lyrics about illicit chemicals, bodily fluids, and television like a neo-schizo-Sick of it All. The guitars have a wobbly, sun-bleached quality—like the exposed bellies of overweight millionaires tooling around San Francisco Bay in an antique Chris-Craft as the tide’s rolling in—both hypnotic and oversaturating. The drums are standard punk fare . . . that is, antagonistically loud. If you like Miami Dolphins, you’ll definitely be down with Solid Attitude.
Solid Attitude has two short albums up on Bandcamp, This Bogus Earth and Prison Water, to stream or download for free. I’ve embedded them below for your convenience.
Like I mentioned, Solid Attitude is playing a house show at The Doughboy tomorrow with local outfits Animal Lover, Burglars, and We Can’t Bury Shelley. Whole shebang starts at 9 p.m. If you’re interested in going, get directions by e-mailing rotmilk [at] gmail [dot] com. Here’s the show flier.
