Lower Dens “Brains”

While it never received widespread accolades, the debut LP Twin Hand Movement by Lower Dens reserved a spot amongst a group of fans (especially music nerds) as one of the best albums of 2010. Even if you were someone like me who weren’t bowed over right away, Twin Hand Movement has proven to be a record that stands the test of time and has helped to build the anticipation of the groups sophomore LP Nootropics, which drops on the Ribbon Music label in May. The slow tension and hazy production show the nuances that make Jana Hunter’s project so great. Judging from the first track, Nootropics should be as good as the Twin Hand Movement, but hopefully will get a little more credit.

Jana does it again. This album is going to own. I really hope they have a stop here on the next tour.

    Looking forward to this one!

Matt, did you catch their last show here? It was great. Shame they had to cancel their opening slot for Cass McCombs though – that would have been killer

Ugh I didn’t and I’ve been wanting to ever since I heard this amazing band.

What’s a good place to start if I want to check out Jana’s other music/projects?
