Paradise: "I Love Thousands Every Summer" (Rough Mix)
I was spinning Cryptacize’s criminally underrated LP Mythomania the other night and it got me wondering just what had happened to them. Its been about three years now and not so much as a peep. Well, a brief exploration of the band’s website told me that frontwoman Nedelle Torrisi seems to have a burgeoning solo project going now called Paradise. While so far Torrisi only seems to have one rough song available on her tumblr, and it was posted last summer, “I Love Thousands Every Summer” definitely shows promise. Unlike Cryptacize’s kind of druggy Broadway musical aesthetic, Paradise seems to have a synthier dance feel. It is similarly weird, however, in more of a Diana Ross meets Italian disco sort of way, with some eerie synthesizers that sound straight out of the Apocalypse Now soundtrack. I like it and I hope to hear more of it. So…hopefully Torrisi gets her ass in gear and records more material soon (or gets Cryptacize back in the studio).
*update a scanning of Torrisi’s wikipedia page reveals that she actually has a full length album recorded as of October 2011. The question is, where can I find it?*
