SEREMBAN, Sat. – Police are expected to detain a 49-year-old babysitter soon to help in investigations into the death of a seven- month-old baby boy, believed to be a victim of child abuse, on Friday.
Police have reclassified the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
It was initially classified under Section 31 of the Child Act.
A post-mortem showed the cause of death to be haemorrhage of the brain.
State CID chief ACP Mohmad Saleh confirmed that police expect to detain the babysitter soon.
According to sources, the babysitter’s claim that the baby suffered injuries after falling off the bed was untrue.
“The post-mortem report showed that the cause of death was brain haemorrhage believed to be caused by violent shaking. The baby also had red marks on his neck and chin, believed to be due to rough handling,” he said. go to site my babysitters a vampire
On Friday, the babysitter had rushed the baby to a clinic, but was advised by the doctor to take him to the hospital as his condition was serious. The baby died 20 minutes after being admitted to the emergency ward.
The baby’s 40-year-old mother runs a kindergarten in Cheng, Malacca, while his 35-year-old father works in Mentakab, Pahang.
It is understood that the babysitter has been looking after the baby since birth.
