man, I love Ty Segall but I think this is the last time I ever go to one of his shows. Too much violence, too many dickheads.

I am writing a review, so I won’t go all in here, but I thought it was an amazing show and the crowd was chill in the back, which was nice. That being said, everyone in the place saw the small group of assholes being complete pricks in the front—even the fucking bands called them out–and the “staff” at the entry didn’t do shit. It took a fight to break out and people to be bleeding before I saw the staff take any action. Super weak. Dancing/jumping around/getting excited are all awesome, but what the assholes were doing last night wasn’t any of those—it was being assholes. You would think the staff could have youtubed a video of the band, seen it can get wild, combine that with a sold out crowd and been ready to cut out the bullshit before it got to the level it did.

Jon, I’m surprised you were able to get these shots off. I was towards the back of the pit on the floor for both sets and I could see you fending off kids – one of which was the kid doing all those hand signals or whatever and pissing off nearly everyone, including myself. It’s one thing to move around, but have some regard for the people around you. He clearly didn’t.

Having said that, I was in the pit for Ty – dancing and whatnot – I don’t like to mosh in a room that small obviously, but I get caught up in the fun and throw my arms around people next to me and we sing along. No harm in that. It’s what I expected from his show. To be honest, I’m glad it was a little rowdy. I’m so sick of going to see bands like this in Minneapolis and standing with a bunch of stiffs. It gets really old. I want a little dancing and moving around (you know, because it’s a fucking rock show), but I also agree that there were a fair amount of ‘assholes’ last night. Assholes that don’t have proper ‘rock show etiquette’ I guess is the best way to put it. I hope I wasn’t one of them, but I can say this: I have a fucking blast seeing these two bands play. Great sets. This was one of the more memorable shows at The Entry I’ve seen.

Matt, I have cooled off a bit since then and yeah, I agree that its fun to mosh and dance and have a good time at a rock show. Without a camera and bag in tow I would have been right there with you.

Its a completely different story though to throw yourself at the people who don’t want to be pushed around. From people I have talked to it sounds like the pit towards the back was fun and had good energy. Towards the front though where I there was definitely a malicious vibe going on – not from everyone but definitely from a few – enough to make a huge difference. Bump into me because you are having a good time and its ok. Intentionally slam into me because you are trying to hurt people or just push their buttons – I have a problem with that.

Trust me, I hate to be the square dude who doesn’t want to be pushed at shows – I have been on the other end of the stick as well. Just don’t push me when I don’t want to be pushed – I don’t think that is too much to ask of anyone at a show.

Not saying you were part of the problem – from the sound of it you weren’t. Hope that next time our paths cross its under better circumstances! Glad you had a great time!

SUCK MY TAINT MATT! You contradicted yourself. What’s the difference between a fist bump and hand motions?! As you say it’s a fuck’n rock concert and fist pumping in one area or hand jives are a way of expressing . I’ll keep my hand jives, and if people want to take pictures they can respectfully tap my should and ask me to put them down or they can just meander to the front. I’ll gladly let them through. Plus I put down a kingly tab that night for the venue, wasn’t rowdy and was thanked for my contributions. So if you don’t like my ETIQUETTE go and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoXfiSU_wqE JOG ON.

Cool, I didn’t realize Bob Fossey was in the mosh pit

  7. Blublah says:

If that Bob Fosse* comment was directed toward this guy (points to self) damn right he was and yep I guess I’m the reincarnation king shit of fuck mountain( GET YO POPCORN READY). I will admit some of my actions might have been a bit much for the show (yeah right), but if one looked closer they would’ve seen a person protecting the realm (the audience) by helping the fallen up in the mosh rather than pushing them back in during white fence. Then toning it up when it was stated stop being assholes, as a responsible audience member would do. I hope these discussions keep going so the haterz keep hate’n and we’ll watch the “ecstasy hands” finger your of age kid sisters butthole. Respectfully, noooooch.

  8. Matt says:

Jon, yeah, I’m not trying to give you the “HEY, WATCH IT OLD MAN!” Haha, I know you and Adam have to be careful with your equipment and there were some assholes flying into you for no apparent reason. There were a few bad eggs – blublah I’ll get to you in second – but overall I thought it was a pretty standard pit. As you said, people just have to keep it to themselves/the pit. People on the outside are there for a reason and they don’t want some sweaty/bloody-faced dude knocking into them when they are trying to enjoy the concert.

Anyway, I hope we cross paths soon as well. I’m sure we will! Great shots btw!

As for you, Blublah, how you can keep this can keep this buzz going all day is beyond me. Are you employed, Mr. Lebowski? Listen, brother, I was in the pit and having a great time just like you. I have no problem with the hand signals, x-hands or fist pumps. It’s all good. Those don’t bother me in the least. I only mentioned them because you were the only one doing them. Everyone that was at the show will know who I was talking about – ie YOU. It wasn’t your vibe hands that were ticking people off, it was you diliberately running into people that didn’t want to be fucked with – Jon included. Like Jon said, I’m all for having a great time, as I was too, but you have to keep it to the pit and just have some respect for people that are trying to have fun at the show. I don’t give a damn if you sucked your LSD from the anus of Jerry Garcia himself because that is besides the point. Drugs weren’t the problem, you were.

Having said that, I’ll see you in the next pit. Take it easy.

Wow do we have a bounty on my head? SHOTS FIRED. Just say’n that probably is a the result of the PIT throwers, and I guess you were the one with the blinders on that didn’t see me help’n others up. If I was moshing it’s not be “deliberately” running into people who didn’t want that-It was a result of the tossers. You’ll just need glasses or a stronger prescription to see what actually went down. Plus I cleaned it up for the Ty show and was angered myself to see jackasses spouting beer and continuing to fuck it up. Continue to say the crowd is on your side and let that win this troll battle it’s not a concern to me.

Let’s just make amends. I’ll hold back on based dance moves in confined areas. I just really wanted to use the jog on clip and troll a bit nothing cereal. Disregard the previous post and accidental post(damn lag internetz). Rock on.

Great show. But yeah, a few annoying pricks. One of them was throwing elbows? What the fuck? I didn’t expect this at the entry. Rammstein was playing at the target center though…
