White Fence “Be At Home”
I had always been on the fence (har har) about White Fence, the pysched tinged garage project of Tim Presely, but thought I might have come around after seeing the bands rock solid set the other night. The band sounded thick and trippy, bouncing between swirling, unsettling pysch and some straighforward, balls to the wall garage punk. Between the really great set and his cool work with Ty Segall on the new Hair LP, I thought I finally “got it.” Then I heard the new track “Be At Home” from his forthcoming Family Perfume Vol. 2 and I felt the overwhelming “meh” feeling rushing back. I am going to go back and listen to both the first volume of Family Perfume and the White Fence is Growing Faith LP to see which version of White Fence is the real one. The one from the live show and his work with Ty Segall is creative and a great songwriter and guitar player. The one I remembered from previous listens and from “Be At Home” is fine, but nothing
