Frank Ocean "Pyramids"

I had no intention to post this song. Frank Ocean has become a music blog favorite, someone who gets the standard “he released an album cover, he released a tracklist, he released a song, etc” treatment, which always feels to me like overkill. We get it, you like him. Ohhh, he is in Odd Fututre and he manages to not have entire songs about rape and murder, which is the low bar his partners in crime have sent. Needless to say, I wasn’t planning on liking “Pyramids” as much as I do. The song is “epic” in a way that not enough songs are “epic.” Spanning 10 minutes of electro-soul-prog, the track is dripping with ambition and packed to the gills with rich melodies and funky beats. I held out as long as I could to jump on the Frank Ocean bandwagon, but with “Pryamids” is has become clear that the Pavlovian response from bloggers may be, in this case, the correct path of action.
