Cat Power “Ruin”
I often error on the side of caution in regards to posting songs that are already well saturated and let them be, assuming most music fans have heard them already via Pitchfork or Gorilla Vs Bear. Then there are songs like “Ruin” by the always amazing Cat Power that I don’t care if we are the 8 millionth site putting it out there. Mixing Chan Marshall’s perfectly smokey vocals over a propulsive piano and percussion package, “Ruin” is a stellar welcome back. The track comes from the forthcoming Sun, which will be the first Cat Power LP to see the light of day in over six years. If it all is as good as “Ruin,” it was worth the wait and is worthy of every crappy blog in the world giving it the light of day.
