Orchestre Poly-Rhytmo “Pardon”
Orchestre Poly-Rhymo are one of those bands that make me love the internet. Without the internet, I don’t think I would have ever heard of OP-R, nor would would their amazing re-issues on Strut and Soundaway. The group, whose eccentric sounod centers around a colorful version of afrobeat, have also released a new album for the first time in 20 years and are finally touring the United States. You can watch a preview for the new record, Cotonou Club, below and also listen to the infectious song “Pardon.” In a world where the internet wasn’t a connecter of great music like this and fans from around the world, I also wouldn’t be able to see the band tonight at the Cedar Ceultural Center, and that would be a shame.
