Spoek Matthambo: “Put Some Red On It”

South African artist Spoek Matthambo’s sophomore record Father Creeper (review) is a bizarre electro and hip-hop inflected ride through the slums of Johannesburg in which Mathambo dresses in zombie drag and raps about child soldiers and blood diamonds. It hasn’t really made much of an impact stateside yet, which means tonight’s Cedar Cultural Center show should be a good opportunity to hear him perform in an intimate setting.  I am certainly excited about the show. Have a listen to Mathambo’s single “Put Some Red On It,” below and come on out to the Cedar tonight if you dig it.
