Samara Lubelski: “Wavelength”

To look at pictures of Samara Lubelski you might think she was a psych-folk artifact from the sixties – most have that vintage yellowed look, and Lubelski seems to favor the fashion of the time.  But no, Lubelski is very much of our era – or at least she has been since the nineties anyway.  She’s been in a number of bands and collaborated with numerous musicians – from Thurston Moore to (infamously) Deerhunter. Lubelski recently finished her ninth solo studio album Wavelengths and released it via local label Destijl Records. You can find a stream of the titular tune off of the record below and if you dig the unique psych-drone cum electronic-distortion vibe, pick up the record here.  Unfortunately Lubelski and Thurston Moore’s forthcoming tour doesn’t even touch our hemisphere, but you never know – maybe someday.
